Hello 2020! It’s been a while, but I’m back. Last year I doubted myself too often about what type of content I should create, what photos to share on social media – even what caption to accompany it – and generally felt quite lost in the blogosphere. I would constantly ask myself, “do people even care about what I have to say? Is what I want to say even interesting?” I realised that I need to stop second guessing everything I do and just do it. So here I am, stripping things back to basics again on here. More travel guides, more chatty posts, more of what I love to consume as well as what I love to write. Thank you for being patient whilst I’ve been trying to find myself again on this platform, and here’s to a new year with new adventures and opportunities.

Katie Charlotte Blogs will be 7 years old next month and it’s amazing to look back through the archives to see how not only I have grown in that time, but also how the blog has changed too. From producing beauty reviews to where to eat and drink in the Cotswolds, the content may differ but the passion behind it all has remained the same. I’m excited to reinvent the blog this year with fresh ideas and introduce more of what is at the heart of it all – photography. Prepare yourselves for plenty of photo-heavy posts!

So here I am, not overthinking and not consumed about what everyone is sharing. New year, same me – just a little bit older and wiser. I haven’t made any big goals, I simply want to look after myself more, which includes more ‘me time’. Time to do things for myself, whether it’s simply running a bubble bath or taking myself out for coffee with my laptop. We all need that time for ourselves, a break from the routine. I’d like to cook more using all my favourite recipe books. I’d like to get fit, but more to do with my mental health than physical. I want to be kinder to myself.

So to kick off the first post of the new decade,  I’m sharing a few of my favourite moments from the last couple of weeks. We kicked off the year in the best way possible – celebrating a friend’s birthday with cheese, port and mulled wine…

… followed by early birthday celebrations for me, which included a walk around my favourite park in Cheltenham, dinner and drinks with one of my closest friends and ended the weekend with a  6 mile walk to the next village!

Despite my birthday being on a Monday AND first day for many being back at work, I enjoyed a lovely meal with my loved ones at my favourite Italian restaurant, Gianni’s. It’s become a really special dining place for me, after celebrating previous birthdays there and special occasions, and can’t recommend it enough to those who enjoy a proper Italian dish.

Then on Friday, the girls and I took a trip to Nashville for the night. We were singing and dancing to Dominic Halpin and the Hurricanes at the Cheltenham Town Hall, who covered music from the likes of Dolly, Johnny and some more recent country music. You really can’t beat a night out with the girls.

Now I need to jump off my laptop to go and make tonight’s dinner: Chicken and Leek Pie! It’s a BBC Good Food recipe, so I’ll let you know over on social how it turns out. You can find the details here if you want to give it a go. Maybe I’ll start doing some more foodie posts on the blog too!

What are your goals for 2020? I would love to hear about your plans and maybe some tips on how to be more sustainable. Tell me over on social media – links below.
