Summer is officially here… well, sort of!  I was kindly invited along a couple of weeks ago to sample cocktails at The Ox in Cheltenham’s new summer menu – an offer I couldn’t refuse!

Pimms – Kamm & Sons British aperitif, muscat liqueur, demerara & mint leaves topped with lemonade

In true British summer style, the heavens opened and we all huddled under the heated umbrellas. Nothing like a little rain to bring everyone together…

Bar manager Will has created this new menu which puts a spin on old cocktail classics, and is sure to make weekends a little brighter – rain or shine. We had to try at least two or three (or four), just to make sure they were okay…

The Ox Shandy is a refreshing choice if you want something a little less alcoholic, but if beer doesn’t tickle your fancy you could opt for a classic glass of Pimms. Tennis season is coming up, after all!

My personal favourite was the Spritz, of course – a take on the Italian aperitif. For me this is the perfect tipple, not too sweet but easy to drink. Perhaps a little too easy to drink, and it certainly took me back to my recent holiday along the Amalfi Coast. We just needed a little dose of sunshine…

Forget what the weather is doing outside right now and escape to The Ox for a taste of summer – you can check out the menu here.

It’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend, grab a bite to eat in the restaurant too – no excuses necessary for a little wining and dining now and then – it is summer, after all.
