The countdown to Christmas has officially begun!
I’m spending this cold and frosty Thursday evening late night shopping with a friend which I’m really excited about. I love this time of year. I’ve been watching the Christmas 24 movie channel religiously for the past month so it’s fair to say that I’m feeling festive. It’s the time to dig out the Michael Buble Christmas album, stock up on chocolate coins and get your shopping skates on to start all that Christmas shopping. This year will be slightly different to usual as I’ve decided to cut back on buying presents…
Don’t worry, I’m not cutting it out entirely.
My shopping habits around this time of year usually start with ‘one for them‘ and end with ‘one for me‘. Sound familiar? It’s a bad habit many of us battle with, so in a bid to save money and temptation this year I’m going to make a few presents instead. I’d been rattling my brain trying to come up with ideas, so when I discovered that Lakeland do a variety of Ball jars*, I thought they would make perfect props to get creative with this Christmas.
I decided to create a little food hamper for a loved one this Christmas, an ideal gift idea for those who have everything and ask for nothing. Using these Ball jars which range in a variety of sizes, I opted for sweet and slightly healthier treats.
Homemade granola, mincemeat, apricot jam, lemon zest cookies and an assortment of fruit and nuts to nibble on… I had been searching for mini marshmallows but they had sold out everywhere!
Alternatively you could opt for savoury snacks instead, or even use the jars to store other lifestyle and beauty gifts. Usually associated with preserves, I wanted to demonstrate just how versatile these Ball jars are.
Simply add festive material to cover the jars with and there you have it! A lovely (and cheaper) gift, made with love.
