It’s not everyday that you’re sent a cake, and let me tell you, the Madame Valerie Gateau is pretty spectacular…
I’m a massive chocolate cake fan.
I’m the girl at the table who will order a brownie after devouring an entire pizza, because in my book there is always room for cake. So, when Patisserie Valerie contacted me about their brand new gateau* I promptly replied with an excited ‘Yes Please‘ email back.
The Madame Valerie Gateau is a rich chocolate sponge with a gorgeous gooey caramel filling running through the centre, there are even honeycomb surprises within too. I love how the salted caramel and white chocolate truffles are sat in cute little chocolate cups on top too – it’s pure decadence! The chocolate cigarettes around the outside really add a little extra something something to the limited edition masterpiece.
Wrapped up in a pink bow, it arrived just before my best friend’s Hen Do last weekend which was great timing as it makes the perfect celebration cake. It fed all 16 hungry Hens – with some left over. If you have a sweet tooth you’ll love it, and a thin slither is enough for most as it could be a little sickly if you ate too much in one sitting.
A few of the girls said they found the caramel to cake ratio a little too much, and would have preferred more sponge – but it’s personal preference, of course. I’m a huge fan of caramel with chocolate (see my Salted Caramel Brownie recipe here) so it was pure heaven for me – I just regret not eating more!
The Madame Valerie Gateau, which was cleverly designed by a customer as part of a competition Patisserie Valerie ran, is available to purchase in stores and online until the end of April – click here more information.

Wow the Madame Valerie Gateau is Spectacular!! I’m looking to get my hubby a nice cake for his birthday and I think this is the front runner. The salted caramel sounds amazing! Is it wrong for me to skip my sandwich and go straight for cake!
Oh my word, I love their cakes but this one looks soooo amazing x x x
